Oh my goodness. I feel like I am in an incredible race and TIME is definitely winning. In fact, it is kicking my butt and leaving me in the dust! How in the world is my sweet baby girl already 3 MONTHS OLD?!? Well, 14 weeks to be exact so that would make her 3 and a half months but her monthly birthday (the 12th) was last week. (When do we stop counting weeks and go strictly to months?? I feel like I am cheating her if I don't count weeks from the exact day she was born but I feel like once you get to 12 weeks it is just silly to continue counting in weeks?? Thoughts? lol Yea. This is really bugging me. haha)
My sweet girl is just the happiest, smiliest baby I have ever met! No one can believe how much she smiles. I am pretty sure she has been smiling since the day she was born! She has just recently started to laugh at us too. It's the cutest thing EVER! Tummy time has gotten better and she is starting to really like it! She loves spending time on her playmat reaching for her toys and she also loves playing with the butterflies that hang over her changing table. She has become quite a mama's girl...but I am not complaining :)
In just 3 months Kaya has already acquired a multitude of nicknames. Some depend on the circumstances but here they are...
- Pumpkin/Punkin
- Muffin/Muffins
- Punkin Muffin
- Baby Muffin
- Muffinhead
- Drooly-ooly (she's been drooling up a storm ever since she discovered her tongue!)
- Snoozy Suzy
- Stinky Marinky
(I am positive I am forgetting some... but you get the picture!)
2 weeks ago Kaya had to have lip and tongue tie repair. It was a simple laser surgery that took only 5 minutes, but we have had to stretch under her tongue every time she eats for the last 2 weeks to make sure it doesn't heal back together. Let me tell you this is PURE TORTURE...for her AND for me. We have a follow-up on Friday and I am praying we can stop with the stretches then.
Kaya has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks old! She sleeps anywhere from 10-12hrs a night and likes to sleep in on the weekends (I think because Daddy's alarm isn't going off!) She is still sleeping in the pack n play in our room, but only because I am having a hard time parting with her! We will start to transition her to her room soon though and I know she will do great.
So much stuff has happened since my last post and THOUSANDS of pictures have been taken (hehe) so I am going to bullet the rest of this post with pictures to try and touch on the highlights from the last 3 months!
Here goes... get ready for the longest blog post ever:
** Big News! I officially decided to leave the corporate world and stay home with Kaya!!! I do have to take in a few other kids in order to make it work financially, but thankfully I am able to watch my 2 year old twin nephews and currently one of my friends' babies. It is definitely not an easy "job" but I just love kids and being able to be home with Kaya and not miss a THING makes it all worth it. My job was just SO stressful and I couldn't imagine continuing working in that kind of stressful environment and then coming home and having an ouce of energy left to spend with the one precious thing that matters most to me...my daughter! I couldn't imagine paying someone to watch her while I went to work at a stressful job. No thanks. So, this is a huge adjustment financially for us and we are making all sorts of sacrifices to make it work, but it is all soooo worth it!!
OK, I'm going to back up and start from the beginning. These are some of the highlights from the past 3 months!
**Newborn professional photos:
**Kaya and Samantha - mini BFF's. This was their first play date on Kaya's 1 week birthday!
** Kaya had her first bath on 10/4/12. She actually seemed to enjoy it! (However, since then it has been hit or miss. I think it is because of the cold weather and us picking her bare body up with cold hands, etc.
** Ben and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary on 9/26 and my birthday was on 9/27. On our anniversary we took a ride and tried out a new pub for lunch. My birthday was a beautiful, warm, sunny day and we took a nice long walk along the Mohawk River.

Being a mom is the most amazing, rewarding and fulfilling "job" and I thank God every single day for giving me this opporunity. Kaya is SUCH a blessing to us and the love I have for her is completely immeasurable. I still look at her every day in shock and awe that she is MINE. She is not going home with someone else. She is here to stay and I am LOVING it!!
OK, time to end this seemingly endless post... I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope to get back to posting more regularly.. maybe I will make that my new years resolution (not that I am a "new years resolution" kind of gal) but we'll see!
Looking forward to our First Christmas as a family with our BEST gift ever...
